Job Posting – Mechanical Engineer

Staub Precision Machine, a leading manufacturer in Hamburg is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to join our manufacturing team. This position is located in the Hamburg, NY area. The Mechanical Engineer must have at least 3+ years of manufacturing and design experience. The ideal candidate should also have a strong background in a manufacturing environment, solid modeling, lathe/mill exposure and good communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • From customer supplied drawings develop and design work holding fixtures compatible with Staub equipment.
  • Process plan new parts from customer drawing to finished part.
  • Collaborate with CNC programmer/operators on work holding fixtures.
  • Create and evaluate designs through 3D modeling (SolidWorks).
  • Design to maximize machine throughput.
  • Create drawings and Bills of Materials for all work holding designs.
  • Liaison across our sister company on larger scale projects.
  • Evaluate company and industry standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Independent project management while maintaining constant communication up and down the project chain.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • General knowledge of metals and their properties.
  • Computer experience with emphasis on MS Office products, CAD software, preferably SolidWorks. ERP/MRP experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to read, understand and create technical drawings and material specifications.
  • Strong mechanical design aptitude.
  • Work holding design.
  • Manufacturing process flow.
  • 3+ years of design engineering experience.

Education:
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.

The physical work environment will require:
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. or heavier.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling or handling of materials.
