Staub operates as a production shop, so we specialize in recurrent, high-volume production to match the needs of our customers. We machine component parts for a number of manufacturers across the country and in Western New York. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to operate a manned first shift and a second and third shift that are completely automated and unattended. Our ability to machine precision parts in large quantities is unmatched, and our automated finishing systems mean parts can easily be shipped to you ready-to-use, if that’s the way you want them.
Tony Staub, founder of Staub Machine Company, deployed a philosophy of increased productivity with minimum personnel through the utilization of technology. This has been the critical factor in the continued success and growth of our firm. Leaders at Staub are constantly innovating and reevaluating, finding ways to use equipment more effectively and make production more efficient.
At Staub, we operate both fixed (Chuck) and sliding (Swiss) head multi-axis turning centers. We are mainly a bar-stock shop, but our capabilities extend beyond that label. Our 14 machines accept materials up to 12 feet long, with diameters as small as .100” or as large as 3”. Each machine has a sub-spindle and features live tooling, which allows us to make finished parts in one machine. We specialize in recurring, mid to high volume parts, made possible by our automation-oriented turning centers and integrated Fanuc robots.
Staub operates three linear pallet pools that feed three groups of horizontal machining centers. This is setup is also known as a Flexible Manufacturing System, or FMS. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) move parts throughout the pallet pools to optimize efficiency. Each of our manufacturing cells has room for 50 pallets, and each milling center has a tool magazine that can hold up to 180 tools. This allows us to store pallets and tools while other jobs are running, virtually eliminating set-up time on production. We have a 5-axis production cell in use – pairing a DMU60 5-axis mill with a Fanuc robot and 30 pallet setup queue. In addition, we operate two three-axis vertical machining centers for custom jobs or low-volume projects. This means that our milling capabilities are world-class.
Finishing & Support
At Staub, our end-use processes supplement our milling and turning capabilities. We go to great lengths to make sure your parts are burr-free and clean. Our measurement tools are calibrated, precise, and geared for automation. We produce parts that can be shipped to you ready-to-use (in fact, we guarantee it). We’ll assemble your parts prior to shipping if desired. Need them electroplated? Done. Anodized? No problem. Going all the way back to the early days of Staub, we still have manual mills and lathes if you have some custom work that needs to get done. We enhance, fine-tune, and double check. Robots do some of the work; humans do some of the work. We’re not a one-size-fits-all kind of place.
